Let’s take a closer look at Uno-X Pro Cycling Team's 2023 season, highlighting key moments, notable victories, and the challenges they faced along the way.

Victories

With 15 victories across the 2023 season - including 7 .Pro races -, Uno-X can certainty look back on this season with pride. The most impressive victory of all being Ramus Tiller winning Dwars door het Hageland. Tiller succeeded in a 3-man sprint against Stan Van Tricht and Florian Vermeersch respectively.

Three months later Tiller was victorious in the 7th stage of Tour of Britain. After a tough day in the saddle he was the fastest of an elite front group, beating the likes of Danny van Poppel. Second places at Vlaamse Druivenkoers Overijse and Circuit Franco-Belge show that Tiller is ready to take the next step in 2024.

The National Championships, especially the Norwegian Men’s Road race, were a complete Uno-X domination. With Fredrik Dversnes victorious, Uno-X took the full podium and placed eight out in the top ten. On the other hand, Soren Waerenskjold succeeded in the men’s time trial.

At 23 years, 2023 was the breakthrough year for the young Norwegian. The former U23 World Champion ITT ended the season with 6 wins behind his name. Stage 3 of Saudi Tour was his first victory as a pro. On a slightly uphill finish he sprinted faster than Jonathan Milan, who won a stage and the points classification at Giro d'Italia this year. If all keeps going well, nothing will keep Waerenskjold from confirming his high level next season.

Tour de France

Uno-X riders undoubtedly made their presence felt on the Grand Tour scene, with success in this year’s Tour De France. Tobias Halland Johannessen fought like a warrior in the breakaways in an effort to secure a prestigious victory for the team. He came oh so close in succeeding. His best result was placing 3rd behind the protagonists Vingegaard and Pogacar on Stage 6.

Victory in the sprint stages came close, with the dynamic duo of Kristoff and Waerenskjold unable to slay the sprinting monster that is Jasper Philipsen. However, the decision to sprint with Waerenskjold instead of Kristoff should have been made earlier, as the latter didn’t look at his best at all during La Grande Boucle.

Overall, the team’s performance at Tour de France 2023 could prove pivotal in the effort to secure wildcards to all 3 grand tours in 2024. Another appearance in the Tour de France looks certain.

Transfers

'Wow' is the word we should use when talking about the Uno-X transfer strategy. The team has recruited exceptionally well for the forthcoming season with notable riders such as the breakaway king, Magnus Cort Nielsen who is going to fit like a glove. He will definitely become a key part of their Grand Tour team, as he possesses wins in all 3 Grand Tours. Will he be the man to get that elusive first Grand Tour victory for Uno-X Pro Cycling Team?

Norwegian talent Andreas Leknessund returns home to the team he was a junior at after a short, but successful spell at Team DSM. At this year Giro d'Italia he got the chance to wear the maglia rosa for 5 days and he even ended up 8th in the general classification. Next to Tobias Halland Johannessen Uno-X will have another GC opportunity in the team.

We should mention Johannes Kulset as well. The climbing wonderkid made the step up for 2024 from the Uno-X Dare Development Team. With his potential he will be one of the youngsters to watch next season.

If the time ever comes, Uno-X have demonstrated they will be able to make the leap into the UCI World Tour
